Effective September 18, 2026, CBP began voiding importer numbers when the importer — or its broker — has provided incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate Form 5106 information. CBP specifically emphasizes valid POAs, correct EIN/SSN information, legitimate business identities, and direct broker-to-importer relationships.
Why does this matter?
A voided IOR number for an importer prevents import entries from being filed and may expose the broker to additional enforcement action.
What can you do?
Reach out to your broker and ask for the latest version of the Form 5106 that is on file with CBP. If the information does not match what is currently accurate, request those changes to be made on the Form 5106, and that they be immediately submitted to CBP.
