ILWA CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS
Dockworkers shut down SSA terminal in
tinderbox that is West Coast ports caught fire again today when members of
the International Longshore and Warehouse Union shut down the SSA Marine
terminal at the Port of Oakland.
Congress increases pressure on ILWU, PMA to
of remaining relatively quiet on U.S. West Coast labor tensions, Congress is
raising its voice on the need for the International Longshore and Warehouse
Union and waterfront employers to forge a new labor contract.
LA-LB drayage drivers picketing terminals,
California port truck drivers are picketing six Los Angeles-Long Beach marine
terminals and the offices of two drayage companies this morning, but the
ports report that cargo-handling is not being affected.
